So as I'm sure you can imagine, its quite a weird cathartic vibe putting a site like this together.. especially in its initial floundering stages. To be honest I hadn't really stood back and taken a look at my latter teenage years in any kind of context, least of all musically - so compiling all the old 160dB stuff and unlocking memories that I hadn't even thought about since their inception was quite an important experience artistically... anyway, it got me to thinking - is some of the 160dB material [notably Hawaii Live-O] worthy of a reprint? If, like me, you are of the belief that all creative forms of expression are valid provided they contribute something - anything, then I guess that yes it does. I suppose Hawaii Live-O is a reaction against high-cost, high-production value, low depth crap. By creating something of such a sheer shockingly shite quality it says, hey - fuck you. You wasted X-thousand pounds on studio time and 'the best in the business' and achieved a less than mediocre result. We however have not spent that money and produced something that will - for a limited amount of people [namely me] - equate to good times, shits and giggles and so on. What must be remembered is that the main point is that it is shite and it draws attention to this as often as is possible; in terms of releasable 'music' theres not many tracks - its all drunken/stoned jamming set to a fairly off key vocal which isn't exactly what Joe Public wants - but whoever said I pander to that twat's needs? The standout track for me has to be "I'm Only Sleeping" purely because of sentimental personal values I've attached to the song, but hopefully it speaks on a number of levels and different people can take away different things from any or all of the tracks.
